Eyes as Big as Plates at Land Art Festival in Gjerdrum, Norway

The 7th annual contemporary art festival LANDART  is open in Norway! A range of site specific and relational land art projects made in collaboration with the rural community of Gjerdrum can be experienced by wandering in the forests and fields until the 29th of October 2023.

A couple of our brand new works are best enjoyed horizontally, and we recommend visitors to stretch out on the lush moss blanket underneath the artworks for full-body effect. We created five new Eyes as Big as Plates works in the last week of August in collaboration with a local farmer, landslide survivor, beekeeper, mayor and a rural pioneer. These portraits and texts are tucked in the forests of Gjerdrum for another two weeks, enjoying a more-than-human audience, scents and soundtracks like no gallery or museum out there! Some of the works at the festival can only be seen from air, either by becoming a bird or by peeking out of a plane landing at Oslo airport (Gardemoen).

Follow this map to start exploring (Norwegian-speakers have an unfair advantage here, but you can always call Karoline from the woods for some translation help!).
